Varanasi, Mar 9 (UNI) National Democratic Alliance (NDA) convenor and JD(U) leader George Fernandes today did not agree with the BJP's demand for dismissal of Mulayam Singh Yadav-led Uttar Pradesh government.

''BJP may be part of NDA, but on this issue I beg to differ from what it has demanded,'' he told reporters at Sankatmochan temple where first of the twin blasts had taken place on Tuesday.

Dismissal of UP government and subsequent President's rule in UP would mean Congress rule, which I would definitely resist, Mr Fernandes said. ''Not that I am supporting the Mulayam government, but the Congress rule will certainly be worse.'' The NDA convenor said Varanasi bomb blasts were ''acts of terror and no government could have done much in this regard.'' When his attention was drawn towards the statement of Union Home Minister of State Sri Prakash Jaiswal that there was a specific intelligence input from central agencies, he said the UP government should have responded to it, as it is a serious matter.

Holding the ISI responsible for the blasts, Mr Fernandes however gave clean chit to Pakistan. ''Contrary to the popular perception, Pakistan had nothing to do with the ISI, which operates on its own creating terror,'' he observed.
