Fake currency racket busted, six held

Nizamabad, Mar 9 (UNI) The police here today arrested six persons and seized fake currency worth Rs 6,73,200 and genuine worth Rs 50,000 from them.

The arrested have been identified as M Santosh, Sivaji Rao, G Asanta Reddy, B Nagesh, K Krishnaiah and Laxman. However, the kigpin M Vittal (52) is still at large, according to police.

The news of fake currency came to light when one fair price dealer P Shivaramulu lodged a complaint with Yellareddy police that one Laxman tried to circulate fake currency in Yellareddy mandal.

The Yellareddy police arrested the gang today and seized fake currency in the denomination of Rs 100 and Rs 500 around Rs 6,73,200 and genuine cash Rs 59,400 from them, the police added.

The police are on the look out for main accused and leader of the gang M Vittal, who migrated to Hyderabad 15 years ago.
