Electoral roll for Kerala Assembly polls finalised

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 9 (UNI) The State Election Commission (SEC) today said the electoral rolls has been finalised for the Assembly polls in Kerala.

The SEC, in a release said 212,681,30 voters, including 110,531,89 women were included in the roll.

The electoral rolls contained photos of the voters and 99 per cent of the work in this regard was complete. It was for the first time in the country that rolls with photos were being used, the release said adding that it was first used in the recent Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha byelection and the Kuthuparamba and Azhikode Assembly byelection.

The electoral rolls would be available for the public to see at all village offices and Taluk offices from Saturday.

Kerala has 140 assembly constituencies and there would be 20,333 polling booths.

The polling will be held in three phases on April 22 and 29 and May 3. Counting of votes would be held on May 11. The notification for the first phase will be issued on March 28, for second phase on March 31 and for the third phase on April 5, the release added.
