Patna, Mar 09 (UNI) BJP president Rajnath Singh today asserted that unity and integrity of the country could be protected only through ''Hindutva'' and ''cultural nationalism''.

Addressing a meeting of party workers here, Mr Singh said some political parties were ''misleading'' the people by spreading canards that the BJP was following the communal line by advocating the faith of Hindutva.

Citing an earlier observation of the Supreme Court, he said, '' Hindutva is a way of life and it is not confined to any particular religion. '' The BJP president demanded apology from political parties, which had described his party as communal, saying with the observation of the Apex court it had become clear that by emphasising on adopting Hindutva, the party was doing nothing communal.

He made it clear that the BJP never believed in dividing the society on communal line and alleged that it was the Congress, which followed the policy of appeasement for political game.

Mr Singh said formation of justice Rajendra Sachchar Commission to assess the status and participation of the muslims in different sectors were aimed at ''appeasing'' the minorities which would be detrimental to unity of the country.

He alleged that recent attack on temple and railway station in Varanasi was the result of ''soft'' policy of UPA government towards the terrorists.

He said during the NDA government, POTA was enforced do deal with the terrorist and disruptive activities but the UPA government decided to replace the POTA with another Act which was soft towards anti-national activities.
