CPI criticises Advani's proposed 'yatra'
Tirupati, Mar 9 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh unit CPI Secretary K Narayana today described BJP leader L K Advani's proposed 'yatra' as "Power Yatra" and that it would affect communal harmony.
Talking to newsmen here he alleged that whenever BJP wanted to come to power, Mr Advani would launch a 'yatra'.
He also alleged that the 'yatra' would encourage communal elements in the country.
Mr Narayana, who visited Anantapur, Chittoor and Krishna districts as a part of "Praja Poru" programme, which began on March 6, urged the state government to take steps for completion of irrigation projects, for the benefit of the Rayalaseema areas and the farmers.
Improper power supply was causing harship to farmers, he charged, adding in many areas farmers were facing low voltage problem and their motors were burnt.
The veterinary department has failed to protect the cattle and sheep, he alleged and added thousands of animals died in rural areas due to disease. There was no insurance cover for the animals.
The agriculture sector was in a crisis as farmers did not get remunerative prices and failed to get crop insurance properly, he alleged.
Blaming the state government for deviation of Rs 400 crore in the Yellampalle project, the CPI leader said that the government must own up political responsibility and atleast now ensure that the works moved fast.
