Cong MLAs stage sit-in over suspension

Bhopal, Mar 9 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh's Congress legislators today staged a sit-in in front of Speaker Ishwardas Rohani's chamber in protest against an assault on SP member Sunilam by ruling BJP MLAs within the assembly and the consequent suspension of three legislators including two from the Congress.

''The action was orchestrated by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the speaker's decision was one-sided,'' Leader of the Opposition Jamuna Devi alleged.

Meanwhile, Dr Sunilam, Mr Ramnivas Rawat and Mr Satyadev Katare said they were not even provided a hearing prior to the suspension.

The trio claimed that they were raising a farmers' issue and such matters were raised even earlier in the vidhan sabha. The members demanded the dismissal of ministers Jayant Malaiya and Himmat Kothari.
