Cong against scurrilous writing against any religion: Shukla

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The Congress today said it was totally opposed to scurrilous writing against any religion.

Party spokesman Rajiv Shukla made the remarks while responding to reporters' queries over the BJP demand for withdrawal of the Padmashree award conferred upon Mr M G Mathews.

The BJP has protested against the vulgar depiction of Hindu gods and goddesses in a book by Mr Mathews.

On the terrorist attacks in Varanasi, Mr Shukla expressed happiness over the action taken by the Mahant of the Sankat Mochan temple, which was the target, to ''throw out'' BJP General Secretary Vinay Katiyar, who was giving a political speech from the temple premises.
