Check and balance needed for emancipation of women: Tayeng

Itanagar, Mar 9: Arunachal Pradesh Social Welfare, Women and Child Development Minister Lombo Tayeng has called for check and balance to give the women folk their due place in the society.

While addressing a function to mark the International Women's Day here yesterday, he said the tribal Arunachalee society has undergone a sea-change during the last three decades with girls outnumbering the boys in enrolment and academic results.

Though forced and child marriages have almost been abolished, but rising cases of divorce, domestic violence and human trafficking were matter of great concern, he pointed out, attributing lack of education behind such evil practices.

Thus, he called upon the NGOs to play a pivotal while keeping themselves aloof from politics and work for the greater welfare of the society.

While assuring all possible help of the government for the women, Tayeng assured to shoulder the responsibility the chief minister has entrusted on him as a minister.
