BJP Central Election Committee to select RS nominees tomorrow

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The BJP Central Election Committee will meet here tomorrow to finalise nominations for 18 Rajya Sabha seats and the first list of candidates for the forthcoming Asom Assembly elections.

The meeting, to be attended by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Leaders of Opposition in Parliament L K Advani and Mr Jaswant Singh, and BJP President Rajnath Singh, will also discuss the possible alliances to be formed in Asom.

In West Bengal, the party has accepted to play second fiddle to Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee, whereas it will virtually go it alone in Tamil Nadu.

Among others, who will also attend the Central Election Committee meeting, are former BJP presidents Murli Manohar Joshi and M Venkaiah Naidu and senior leaders Sushma Swaraj, Pramod Mahajan and Arun Jaitley.
