Bengal Chamber, India Energy Forum to organise seminar

Kolkata, Mar 09 (UNI) The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the India Energy Forum would organise the Eastern India Renewable Energy Summit 2006 tomorrow.

The seminar is being organised at a time when India has to target at least 10,000 MW from renewable energy by 2012 out of the total power production target of around two lakh tonnes under the eleventh five year plan, Bengal Chamber president Aloke Mukherjee said.

The seminar will focus on removing the obstacles, formulating strategies and creating market for developing renewable energy sector which is poised to play an important role in taking power to remote areas of the country, Mr Mukherjee said.

Non-Coventional Energy Sources Ministry secretary V Subramanium, West Bengal Renewable Development Agency director S P Gon Chowdhury and Coal India chairman Sashi Kumar would address the seminar.
