Banerjee report not to be tabled without court's nod

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The Government today (Mar 9, 2006) informed Rajya Sabha that the Gujarat High Court had directed that the contents of the final report of high level committee headed by Justice U C Banerjee about-Godhra trains fire must not be made public till the related cases pending before it were cleared.

Making a statement on the issue, Railways Minister Lalu Prasad said the Government had appealed against the decision and the matter was in the Court, he said.

As Mr Prasad was about to read his statement regarding the final report of the Committee, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj raised an objection, However. Deputy Chairman K Rehman Khan told the House that the statement was cleared by the Chair and he was sure that the statement contained no objectionable references.
