Assembly mourns death of K R Narayanan, P M Sayeed

Aizawl, Mar 9 (UNI) The Mizoram State Assembly today mourned the death of former president K R Narayanan and Union Cabinet Minister for Power P M Sayeed by observing a minute-long silence.

House leader Zoramthanga and party leaders like Zoram Nationlist Party President Lalduhoma, Mizoram People's Conference group leader Lalhmingthanga and opposition leader and Congress President Lal Thanhawla expressed their the condolence at the demise of the national leaders, saying, ''their deaths are a great loss to the nation.'' Chief Minister Zoramthanga read out short biographies of K R Narayanan and P M Sayeed.

According to the speaker, mourning the death of P M Sayeed, who died December last year in Seoul due to heart failure, was significant as it was the first time that the Mizoram State Assembly observed a condolence on the death of a Union minister.
