TWI denies any involvement in TV rights for 1996 cricket World Cup

Mumbai, Mar 8 (UNI) Trans World International (TWI), a part of the IMG Group of Companies, today denied reports which has accused them of being involved with the television rights of the 1996 World Cup, which was held in jointly India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Andrew Wildblood, TWI's Senior Vice President, in a statement here said that TWI wished to clarify certain 'erroneous' statements contained in the Indian press and that it did not have any ownership or involvement with regard to the television rights for the 1996 cricket World Cup.

Mr Wildblood further said that statements in the press that 4,000,000 dollar in respect of the said rights were due by TWI to BCCI are entirely incorrect and damaging to TWI, he added.

''The Indian cricket board has confirmed to TWI that it would itself issue a statement confirming that TWI neither owes such money nor had any involvement with the television rights for Cricket World Cup 1996'', Wildblood added.
