Three engineering students killed as jeep overturns

Ludhiana, Mar 8 (UNI) Three engineering students were killed and one was injured when their jeep overturned after hitting a closed level crossing in the Dugri area here early today.

Police and railway sources said that the mishap occurred around 0120 hours.

The deceased were identified as Alok Anand, Harbhajan Singh and Palwinder Singh-- all final year students of the Guru Nanak Engineering College here.

The injured, Amaninder Singh, was admitted to Apollo Hospital here where his condition was stated to be critical.

A goods train was due to pass on the line. However, the gateman informed the railway authorities, who stopped the train.
