TFA,Churchill draw blank; SBT wins
Jamshedpur, Mar 8 (UNI) The State Bank of Travancore(SBT) scored a brace against Punjab Police while Tata Football Academy (TFA) and Churchill Brothers settled for a goalless draw in the second division ONGC Cup 10th National Football league here today.
SBT took control over the game from the word go but had to wait till the 31st minute when Martin John beat Police custodian Paramjit Singh with a powerful grounder(1-0).
In the second half too the bankmen dominated the proceedings and SBT striker international Abdul Hakkim increased the tally in the 62nd minute with a fine solo effort(2-0).
The Kerala team registered the second consecutive win and earned six points after went down 1-5 against Churchill Brothers in the opening match.
In the other match, local outfit TFA, who already secured highest point ahead of Churchill Brothers, drew blank against the latter as both the teams played some uninspiring soccer.
Apart from some occasional counter attack,the play was confined in the midfield and both team tried to score in the fag end of the match but missed the target.
TFA and Churchill shared one point each and nothed up total eight and seven points from the four matches respectively.
