Police constable killed

Hyderabad, Mar 8 (UNI) A police constable was killed by CPI(Maoist) naxalites at Kondanagulu village in Mahabubnagar district today.

Police said the deceased, Jahangir, was working in the Balmur Police Station in Mahbubnagar district and was on duty at the time of attack.

He was sent to Kondanagulu village to report for duty in an examination hall. Two Maoists suddenly emerged on the spot and opened fire at the constable, killing him on the spot at around 0930 hrs.

Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy condemned the act of Maoists.

Mr Reddy, while condoling the constable's death, assured all possible assistance to the kin of the deceased.

Mr Reddy also called upon the people's organisations and intellectuals to condemn such brutal killings.
