PM says 70 per cent of NCMP initiatives implemented

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today reviewed the status of implementation of the National Common Minimum Programme (NCMP), which forms the basis of governance by the United Progressive Alliance, in the past 21 months.

Chairing a meeting of senior officials in his office, Dr Singh noted that more than 70 per cent of specific policy initiatives listed in the NCMP have been implemented.

"Various Ministries and Groups of Ministers (GOMs) are processing some of the other initiatives where implementation requires inter-ministry co-ordination, concurrence of State Governments and amendments to the Constitution," he pointed out.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction at the pace of execultion of the NCMP and conveyed his appreciation of the PMO officials for regular monitoring and follow-up work with Ministries and State Governments.

He expressed his appreciation of the good work being done by all the Ministries and Departments of the Union Government in implementing the NCMP.

The Prime Minister urged PMO officials to continue to keep a close vigil and to prepare Ministry-wise status reports on NCMP implementation.
