MP Govt institutes two awards for women
Bhopal, Mar 8 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government today announced on the occasion of the International Women's Day to institute Rani Avanti Bai and Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia awards of Rs one lakh each to honour courageous women.
Addressing Stri Shakti Sammelan organised at Jawahar Bal Bhavan here, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, ''All possible steps would be taken for socio-economic and educational empowerment of women.'' Pointing out that women were as efficient and talented as men, he said implementation of welfare programmes for women had made them aware of their rights and opportunities, an official release said here today.
Stressing on the need for widening coverage of schemes like 'Gao Ki Beti and free cycle distribution to girl students, Mr Chouhan said serious efforts will be made to check MMR and IMR by providing better maternal healthcare facilities.
He said facilities for institutional deliveries will be ensured in health institutions.
Besides, benefits of Deen Dayal Antyoday Prasav Parivahan Sahayata scheme would be ensured to all expectant mothers.
