ISI agent arrested; remanded to police custody

Mumbai, Mar 8 (UNI) Suspected ISI agent Kasmi Khunni, who was arrested last night by the Detection Crime Branch (DCB) which also recovered fake Indian currency of Rs three lakh from his possession, was today remanded to police custody till March 20 by a local court.

Moving the remand application, police prosecutor Tahir Trimbakwala told the court of Additional chief Metropolitian Magistrate S Y Shisode that investigating agency wanted the custodial interrogation of the accused on his nexus with the ISI of Pakistan. Also, two of his associates were absconding.

According to senior inspector Pradeep Sharma, Khunnik, who hails from Kerala, was arrested late last night from Malwani and during the search, the police recovered counterfeit Indian currency worth Rs three lakh in the denomination of Rs 1,000.

Some incriminating documents have been recovered from his possession, he added.
