ISD calls at Rs 6 per minute to US, UK and Canada

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) Offering the lowest rates in the market, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today said calls to United States, UK and Canada would cost Rs six a minute.

The largest telecom service provider of India, has slashed the ISD tariff and pulse rate for dial- up Internet access under , ''One India Plan'' for basic and WLL services. The new rates have come into effect from March 1, 2006.

According to the new tariff, ISD rates to USA, UK and Canada will be Rs 6 per minute (10 Second Pulse) against the rate of Rs 7.20 per minute under other plans.

Similarly, the rates for Europe (other than UK), Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong will now be Rs 8 per minute (7.5 Second Pulse) as against Rs 9.60 per minute to the rest of the world will be Rs 10 per minute(6 Second Pulse) as against Rs 12.

The above rates are 17 per cent lower than the rates offered by BSNL under other plans in both fixed and mobile segment.

It is clarified that the rates offered by BSNL are the lowest in the market. Further, the rates offered by other operators are on per minute basis (60 Second minimum charges) and workout to about 20 to 25% higher if compared with rates offered by BSNL.
