Infosys, I-Flex eye S America and Chile

New Delhi, Mar 8: Having made a mark in the US, Indian IT majors like Infosys and I Flex have their eyes in South America with Chile being on the expansion plan.

Mr Ramesh made these remarks at the time of signing a Preferential Trade Agreement with the leading South American nation. The agreement was signed by Commerce Secretary S N Menon and Ambassador of Chile in India Jorge Heine.

The minister said the signing of PTA with Chile would open new doors for the Indian companies, especially in the information technology and the pharmaceuticals.

Chile imports pharmaceuticals worth about a billion dollar and the share of Indian companies is only 20 billion dollar. Necessary registration of the pharmaceutical companies with the government in Chile has proved to be one of the major road-blocks for the Indian firms.
