Inadequate funds to construct road: Minister

Imphal, Mar 8 (UNI) Works Minister Th Devendra Singh today informed the house during a call attention motion raised by Henry Paotei that the government was committed to construct and repair roads in the hill areas of Manipur.

The government has not got adequate funds so it is taking up the works step by step and it takes lots of money to execute works in hill areas, he said.

Paotei raising the matter said even on the national highways grass has started growing and the conditions of the roads were pathetic in the hill areas.

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh informed the house replying to a query by N Sovakiran that about 2480 people were given loans under special employment generation programme.

Youths between 20 to 45 were given assistance to enable them to earn their livelihood, he said.
