Haryana CM announces bonanza for cops

Chandigarh, Mar 8 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced a string of incentives for the state police personnel which included a 20 per cent increase in ration money, doubling of police welfare fund to Rs one crore and a compensation of Rs 7.5 lakh to next of kin of those cops killed in encounter.

Besdies, the Chief Minister also announced a training allowance at the rate of 15 per cent of the basic pay on the pattern of Union Government.

Mr Hooda also announced that 4000 police personnel would be recruited by the State Government during next month so as to strengthen the State police. He said that an ambitious action plan was being formulated to enable the police force to use modern technology for further improvement its functioning.

The Chief Minister made these announcements on the occasion of the passing out parade of the Haryana Armed Police at Bhondsi in Gurgaon district today, an official release here said.

While complimenting those passing out and their parents, Mr Hooda also complimented the police force for creating an atmosphere in the State which has been free from any fear during last one year.

Speaking on the occasion, Director General of Police Nirmal Singh said that today 952 police personnel have passed out after intensive training.

He also complimented their trainers. He said the campaign launched to check corruption has started yielding encouraging results.

The department was considering a proposal of getting the status of police training centre for Bhondsi Training Centre and this proposal would be forwarded to the Government. In the near future, the DGP said, apart from training, promotional courses and constable advance course would be started at this centre.

The Chief Minister gave away Rs 3000 and certificates of merit of A class each to Rajinder Kumar and Dharambir. Mr Ranjit was given two certificates of merit of Class A and Rs. 4000. Mr Neeraj, who ranked second in parade was also given away Rs. 2000 and class A certificate of merit.

The Chief Minister, who also addressed a gathering at the residence of MLA Sukhbir Johnapuria of Sohna, said that even the Centre had appreciated the change in law and order situation in Haryana, commenting that if there is any State which has registered a change in law and order in a true sense it is Haryana.
