Girl dead; 35 huts gutted

Mumbai, Mar 8 (UNI) An eighteen-year-old girl died and around 35 hutments were gutted in a major fire in the Indira Nagar slums at Kherwadi, near Bandra Railway Terminus in the Western suburbs this morning.

According to fire brigade, the deceased was identified as Ruksana (18), who succumbed to burn injuries on way to the hospital.

Eyewitness said smoke emanated from the hutment of the deceased after two cooking gas cylinders burst resulting in the blaze which spread and engulfed the surrounding dwellings in the slum.

Five fire engines and three water tanker were deployed to extinguish the fire, sources added UNI ST KD SHR GC1742
