DD launches 'Girl Child' campaign on Women's Day
New Delhi, May 8 (UNI) Doordarshan today launched a month-long programme titled 'Girl Child' to highlight the growing female foeticide in the country on the 'International Women's Day'.
Several celebrities will feature in the programme, which will be in the form of a campaign, said Doordarshan deputy director general Usha Bhasin.
The main objective of this comapign is to bring an awareness and to discuss the problems of there exploitation, discrimination, disparity in education and sex determation test and sex ratio, she said.
The programme, which is produced in association with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is Doordarshan's initiative to save the girl child, she added.
