Cotton farmers hold rasta roko

Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 8 (UNI) As many as 150 cotton farmers staged a rasta roko at Annasagaram, near Nandigama, on Machilipatnam-Pune National Highway in Krishna District today.

They were demanding the immediate purchase of about 5000 bales of cotton lying in the Nandigama Market Yard and release of about Rs 12 crore arrears to cotton farmers by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI).

Later, they burnt the effigy of Guntur CCI General Manager.

On getting the information, CCI General Manager Amrut Singh rushed to Nandagama and assured to solve their problems following which the farmers called off their agitation.
