CISF to increase women share in force to 15 per cent

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) As a benign gesture on International Women's Day, CISF today announced the recruitment of 300 additional women personnel this year with a promise to attain the target of 15 per cent women in the force soon.

Addressing mediapersons at its annual press conference, CISF Director General S I S Ahmad said our aim was to reach an honourable figure of 15 per cent women force for serving the growing needs of the force.

''As an immediate measure, 300 women would be recruited this year alone of which 100 would be Sub-Inspectors and the rest as Constables,'' he added.

Presently the percentage of women Constables in the force is a miserable two per cent and even less in the Sub-Inspector rank.
