Centre to decide granting autonomous council status to Tawang: Apang

Itanagar, Mar 8 (UNI) Granting Autonomous Council status to Arunachal's Tawang district entirely depends on the Centre's decision as the state government has left no stone unturned to pursue the former on the issue, Chief Minister Gegong Apang has said.

''The state government has already done its job in this regard and the ball is now at the Centre's court'', he said while interacting with Panchayat leaders at Tawang.

''If the dream of the people comes true then Panchayat Raj has to go and there will be election for the Chairmanship'', Apang said, adding, ''We are trying to meet the aspirations of the people''.

The Chief Minister further informed that the government was contemplating communitisation of the education system through people's participation in development activities as the process has been successfully implemented in Nagaland. Similar process had already been started in the health sector, he added.
