Call rates end higher at 6.65-6.75 pc, bond prices rise

Mumbai, Mar 8 (UNI) The call rates closed higher at 6.65-6.75 per cent as compared to 6.60-6.70 per cent on Tuesday, said a dealer in the money market.

At the one-day repo auction, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) injected Rs 5,270 crore through 15 bids received at 6.50 per cent rate, as per the data released by the apex bank.

At the second one-day repo auction, the Bank injected Rs 1,835 crore through five bids received at 6.50 per cent rate.

At the one-day reverse repo auction, RBI absorbed Rs 125 crore through two bids received.

In the call money market, the central bank's borrowings and lending on Monday were of Rs 13,054.58 crore each at weighted average rate of 6.73 per cent.

Bond prices were up after the private placement of bond worth Rs 10,000 crore offered the much-needed respite to the bearish market, said an analyst.

The actively traded 8.07 per cent 2017 bond price rose by 15 paise to Rs 104.85, while the yield closed at 7.41 per cent as compared to last close at 7.43 per cent.
