BJP complains to EC for violaton of election code of conduct

Kolkata, Mar 8 (UNI) The West Bengal BJP today charged the ruling CPI(M) with openly violating the election code of conduct and lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission.

Drawing the attention of state Chief Electoral Officer(CEO) Debashis Sen towards a number of violations,BJP state President Tathagata Roy in a letter today said though the EC had imposed a ban on display of government advertisements and hoardings following announcement to elections dates, several such advertisements had come at several important road junctions in the heart of the city on behalf of the ruling CPI(M).

Mr Roy demanded immediate intervention of the EC besides ordering immediate removal of such hoardings and banners by the state government.

Meanwhile, the BJP state President has sought some more time before announcing the names of party candidates. '' Our talks with Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee are nearing completion,'' Mr Roy said and added that the list could be announced anytime next week.
