The Government order followed implementation of an Act banning all kinds of wall writing throughout the state which had evoked protests from political parties, taking plunge into campaigning for the coming Assembly electioins.

Mr Sen said the Election Commission, in a directive, had restricted the number of cars and persons accompanying a candidate at the time of filing nomination. The EC had stipulated that while the number of cars should not be more than three, five persons, including the proposer, would be allowed to accompany the candidate of a recoginised political party. The number should be a maximum of 14 in the case of an independent nominee, the CEO said.
