Mysore, Mar 8: The Karnataka Government has agreed to provide 50 per cent share of funds to take up Bangalore-Mysore double railway line work, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said today.

Inaugurating the newly built Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Council Hall at the city corporation premises here, he said he had discussed this with Railway Minister Lalu Prasad during his visit to New Delhi. The project was necessary to improve the basic infrastructure of Mysore as a lot of investors were now turning towards the city.

Besides, it was essential to make Mysore an alternate industrial destination to Bangalore and to make it a tourist spot.

Mr Kumaraswamy instructed the district administration to take precautionary measures ahead of the rainy season to prevent any untoward incident.

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated the birth anniversary celebrations of litterateur T N Sreekantiah, organised by the De Ja Gow Trust and the Department of Kannada and Culture. Accompanied by his Ministers, he offered pooja to Goddess Chamundeswari, the principal deity of the city, atop Chamundi hills and sought the blessings of Sri Deshikendra Swamy of Suttur Mutt here.
