Assembly adjourned over corruption charges on Minister
Jammu, Mar 8 (UNI) The Jammu and kashmir Assembly today witnesed uproarious scenes by the opposition National Conference(NC) on the alleged corruption in some projects of PHE, Irrigation and Flood control department, compelling speaker Tara Chand to adjourn the House for 20 minutes.
During question hour, Minister of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Qazi Mohammad Afzal told the House about water supply and irrigation projects of Poonch but the Opposition was not satisfied by Minister's reply and a demanded discussion over the issue.
The MLAs of National Conference including Leader of Opposition Abdul Rahim stood on their seat and raised anti, Government slogans. They were demanding urgent discussion over the matter.
NC MLAs reached to speaker and demanded discussion over the alleged corruption charges. The uproarious scenes in Assembly compelled Speaker Tara Chand to adjourn the House.
Later while talking to reporters ,MLAs levelled serious charges against the Minister and demanded a high level inquiry in to the matter.
They accused Mr Afzal of giving work of potable water and irrigation projects in Poonch without any tendering process.
"It is a real test for Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, If he is really on a mission to eliminate corruption from the Government then he should take action against his Cabinet colleague", they added.
