Around 35 huts in Kherwadi slum gutted in fire

Mumbai, Mar 8: About 30 to 35 huts were gutted in a major fire that broke out at Kherwadi near Bandra railway terminus in the western suburb this morning (Mar 8, 2006).

No casualty has been reported so far.

The cause of the fire, which broke out at 0900 hrs is yet to be ascertained, fire brigade sources said.

Five fire engines and three water tankers were deployed to extinguish the fire and it was brought under control at 1015 hrs, soruces added.
