AP Assembly adjourned amid pandemonium

Hyderabad, Mar 8: The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned soon after it met this morning (Mar 8, 2006) amid pandemonium when opposition members obstructed the proceedings demanding immediate debate on the alleged misappropriation of Rs 400 crore in the execution of Sri Padasagar Project.

TDP and TRS members trooped into the well of the house with placards and shouted slogans.

The TRS members were demanding discussion on G O 72 which they said was issued by the Government to nullify G.O.610 and Girglani Commission Report which provides for repatriation of Employees of other regions from Telangana.

Speaker K R Suresh Reddy repeatedly told the opposition members that immediately after the question hour a debate would be taken up but the unyielding opposition continued to disrupt the proceedings of the House, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House for ten minutes.

Sixtytwo members of the TDP, TRS, CPI(M), CPI and Majlis were suspended for the last two days for disrupting the proceedings of the House on the project issue.

The members resumed service of the House today, and once again created acrimonious scenes.
