ACB raids houses of two PWD engineers in Aurangabad

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Mar 8 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths today raided the residences of two engineers of Public Works Department (PWD), in Jalna and Aurangabad simultanously, for misusing official powers to earn benefit of Rs 4.5 lakh and cheating the Maharashtra government during the period of February-March 2004.

Deputy Superintendent of ACB Sheikh Mujib, in a release here today, said that Naresh Shegokar and Babulal Chavan were then deputy engineer and sectional engineer respectively at Jafrabad in Jalna district and they earned a personal benefit against submission of false bills of Rs 4,58,971 pertaining to road repair works.

A case has been registered against both of them, who are presently posted at Aurangabad, in the Jafrabad (Jalna) Police Station today under sections of 13(1),(c), 13(1) (d) (2) of the ACB Act 1988 and sections 468, 471, 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

But, no arrests were made as they were not there at the residences when the search was carried by the ACB, he added.
