2800 kg duplicate BT Cotton seeds seized in Bathinda

Bathinda, Mar 8 (UNI) Police today seized 2800 kg of duplicate BT Cotton seeds from a seed dealer of Rama Mandi in the district.

Police said the seeds were packed in 70 bags in the godown situated on Pir Khana road.

A case under Essential Commodities Act and Seed Act was registered against the dealer Ashok Kumar but no arrest has been made so far, the police said.

Demanding registration of a cheating case against the seed dealer, Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ugraha) leaders threatened an indefinite dharna in case the dealer was not arrested.

However, Bathinda SSP Kapil Dev said that the arrest of the dealer was not necessary until the quality of the seized seeds was not verified in the laboratory.
