Training of police personnel in naxal-affected states

New Delhi, Mar 7: The naxal-affected states have been asked to take immediate steps for imparting training to police personnel engaged in anti-naxalite operations in counter-insurgency and jungle warfare, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal, in a written reply in the lower house, said that a sizeable section of new India Reserve Battalions sanctioned to the States will also be trained on these lines. For this purpose, training facilities and expertise of central police organisations will be made available to the states.

The expenditure incurred on training to the eligible states is covered under the Security Related Expenditure (SRE) and India Reserve Battalion Scheme of the Central Government, he said.
