Student, teachers to pursue Biplab's murder case relentlessly

Shillong, Mar 7 (UNI) The teachers and students of the St Anthony's College, Mass Communication Department, have decided to pursue till ''justice was received'' in the murder case of their classmate Biplab Das who was killed on February 18.

Seeking the early completion of the probe into the incident, the students and teachers yesterday met state Home Minister H D R Lyngdoh and demanded that chargesheet be filed soon.

Police had already arrested three persons in this regard.

Head of Department of Mass Communication Department Mrs Ampareen Lyngdoh today said students of the department had taken up the responsibility to pursue the case.

She said that on March 18, the college would observe 'Black Day' in memory of Biplap Das and would continue to observe the same on 18th of every month until justice was done.

Three persons have been booked under Sections 302, 364 ,201 and 120 B of IPC. Bernard Lyngdoh Phawa allegedly masterminded the abduction and murder of Das on February 18 last. His accomplices were Bonnie Lyngdoh Phawa and Akbar Quereshi.

Biplab Das was second year student of mass communication studying in St Anthony's College who had been abducted from Police Bazar here on Febryary 18 and his body was recovered from Mawlai Mawroh after three days.

Biplab hailed from Siliguri of North Bengal.

Police said Bernard was a close friend of Biplab and and the main accused in the case was Bonny Lyngdoh Phawa. After abducting Biplab they had demanded Rs 80 lakh as ransom.
