Strong protests over alleged rape of 21 girls

Imphal, Mar 7: The All Women's Association, Churachandpur, HMUR Women's Association, Kuki Women's Association, Kuki Women's Union, and Mizo People's Convention condemned the alleged rape of 21 girls by suspected militants at Churachandpur district on January 16.

They appealed to all to support the cause of the victims.

A protest rally would be organised on March 9 at Churachandpur district against the incident.

Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) chairperson Justice (retd) Shishak earlier said the Manipur chief secretary has been asked to look into the matter and a team of human rights activists and students' leaders have gone to the villages to conduct an inquiry.
