Samata, JD(U) striving for a new Front
Pondicherry, Mar 7: The Samata Party and Janata Dal (United) along with the 'Dravida Peravai' are making efforts to form a third front in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry to fight the next assembly elections.
Adressing a press conference here, Kumari Nambi, All India vice president of the Samata Party and N Nandhiverman, general secretary Dravida Peravai said they were expecting some parties to come out of the DPA after the seat sharing exercise and they would be roped into the proposed third front.
Terming MDMK forging an alliance with the AIADMK as ''opportunistic'', they criticised Mr Vaiko for justifying the arrest of Pazha Nedumaran and himself under POTA. They demanded the AIADMK front should give an assurance to the people through it's election maniefesto that if it emerges victorious, the front would press the Centre to remove ban on the LTTE.
They also urged the Kerala government to implement the Supreme Court verdict in the Mullapperiyar dam issue so should that the southern parts of Tamil Nadu received water by raising the height and increasing the storage capacity.
