Pickpocket attempts self-immolation before CoP's office
Chennai, Mar 7 (UNI) A habitual pickpocket created a flutter before the Chennai City Police Commissioner Office here today by attempting self-immolation demanding police to take action on his complaint.
Mani (53) took police personnel deployed on security there by surprise when he suddenly doused himself with kerosene and set himself alight.
However, the police personnel acted swiftly and put out the fire.
In his complaint, Mani demanded action against a person who had allegedly attacked him.
Mani was admitted to the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital with 30 to 40 per cent burns. His condition was stated to be stable.
