NUTA team in Delhi demanding VC's resignation

Kohima, Mar 7 (UNI) The Nagaland University Teachers' Association (NUTA) held series of meetings with top officials of Human Resource Development Ministry on the crisis in Nagaland University following resignation of Vice-Chancellor G D Sharma on February 28.

According to a release, the NUTA delegation submitted documentary evidence of alleged mismanagement of funds in the University.

The NUTA delegation also held consultative meetings with Nagaland Rajya Sabha member T R Zeliang and Lok Sabha member from the state Wangyuh Konyak.

After the consultations, it was decided to submit a representation to the ministry officials demanding acceptance of the Vice-Chancellor's resignation in the interest of the student community and the University.

The NUTA alleged that Prof Sharma with some officials of NU deposited Rs seven crore under fixed deposits in different heads in a private bank in Kohima.

The money was sanctioned by HRD Ministry for recruitment of teachers and staff for the proposed engineering college and management institute.
