Bhopal, Mar 7: Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh today (Mar 7, 2006) said he had no objection if his telephone was tapped under due process of law.

''If it was felt that I posed a threat to national security, my phone should be tapped, but under the legal process'', he told reporters here commenting on media reports about tapping of the telephones of Mr Singh, Ms Uma Bharti and few journalists in Bhopal.

Making a frontal attack on Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Congress General Secretary said instead of devoting more time on administrative work, Mr Chouhan was now a days more busy in receptions and rallies to counter the public meetings of expelled BJP leader Uma Bharti.

To substantiate his charge, Mr Singh said responding to his letter urging the Chief Minister to include Burhanpur and Anuppur districts in Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Mr Chouhan had replied with regard to inclusion of both districts for food for work programme. ''I will again remind the chief minister'', he added.

The former Chief Minister said he would draw the attention of the state government towards the fact that at present there was no ''leader of the house'' in the Assembly as Mr Chouhan is a non-member.''Only a member can become leader of the house'', he added.

Mr Singh reiterated that the state government decision to entrust the CBI with the investigation into complaints against former Assembly Speaker Shriniwas Tiwari was politically motivated and not based on facts. ''Tiwariji ne mujhse koi galat kaam nahim karaya (Mr Tiwari had never told me to do any work illegally), he added.

Pointing out that the BJP ministers had not submitted so far documents relating to their assets in the Assembly, Mr Singh charged that the BJP government was deeply involved in corruption. It had also gone back on its promise to provide corruption-free government, he said, adding the BJP government lacked vision in ensuring speedy development of the state.
