Muivah's escorts surrender to Manipur govt

Imphal, Mar 7 (UNI) Two escorts of NSCN(IM) supremo, Th Muivah, and two cadres of Kangleipak Communist Party(KCP) laid down arms before Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh here last night.

The two NSCN(IM) cadres, Ningtam Keishing of Ukhrul and Ringphami of Chatrik were reportedly in the escort team of the NSCN(IM) general secretary, police said.

Ningtam surrendered a sniper rifle and 80 live rounds of ammunition. The other cadre Ringphami surrendered one sub-machine gun with ammunition. He was also a trainer.

The two KCP cadres surrendered two AK 56 rifles, ammunition and hand grenade. The chief minister welcoming the insurgents into the mainstream said, the cadres came overground as they felt violence would not yield any result. He also called upon other cadres to follow suit.
