Port Blair, Mar 7: As part of the eco-tourism scheme run by the Environment&Forest Department, the Wrightmyo creek area of Andaman Islands is being developed to highlight the mangrove diversity of Andaman&Nicobar Islands tourists.
''A mangrove interpretation centre is being constructed at Wrightmyo to educate the visitors about the importance of mangrove for welfare of human-being, besides promoting the new site for tourism,'' said DFO, South Andaman S Senthil Kumar.
''The tour operators can hire private dinghies available for joy rides for the tourists,'' he added.
Expressing their views, IFS probationers Saurav Srivastava and Vishwakannan said the Wrightmyo Creek has lots to offer for the visiting tourists. It has mangrove cruising, different kinds of mangrove vegetation, mangrove fruits, panoramic view of Shoal Bay.
