Major fire at Singalila National Park,animals safe

Darjeeling, Mar 7: A major fire which broke out at the Singalila National Park here on Sunday night was controlled yesterday morning.

Fire tenders could not reach the spot as it was at a high altitude, Dr Bipin Kumar Sood, DFO of Darjeeling Wildlife Division said. He said local people, NGOs and forest department officials helped control the blaze.

However, exotic wildlife like Red Pandas, Munal and Blood Pegion and other animals did not suffer any casualty, Dr Sood said.
