Haryana Govt announces awards for energy conservation

Chandigarh, Mar 7 (UNI) Haryana Government today announced the winners of State level awards for energy conservation for the year 2004-05.

While stating this, Director, Renewable Energy Department, Sumita Misra said these awards would be given at a State level function next month.

She said in High Tension (HT) category, the first award has been awarded to Golden Laminates, Panchkula and second to DCM Textiles, Hisar. Mini Secretariat Building, Panchkula has bagged the first prize in the category of Government buildings.

The State Government had launched the scheme to give awards for best practices in energy conservation and management in three different categories, she informed adding that the scheme has been introduced to create awareness among industries about the significance of energy conservation.

There would be three cash awards of Rs one lakh, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively, in HT category of consumers.

Similarly, in Low Tension (LT) category of consumers, there would be only two awards of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. In case of commercial or government building category, there would be two awards of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 in cash respectively.

She further said that at district level a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner with members as Superintending Engineer, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam or Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, General Manager, District Industries Centre and District Project Officer of Renewable Energy Department to invite nominations and recommend proposals for various categories of award.

She said that these proposals would be scrutinised by a State level committee under the chairmanship of Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Renewable Energy Department and the committee comprised of Director, Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA), Managing Director, Sugar Federation, representative of Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Union Ministry of Power, representatives of National Productivity Council and Petroleum Conservation Research Association for recommendation for State level awards.
