Greentop track can produce result in Mohali: Intikhab Alam

Mohali, Mar 7 (UNI) The second India-England Test here can produce a result if the greener of the two pitches is selected for the match, said Intikhab Alam.

Cricket manager of the Punjab Ranji team, the former Pakistan captain said both the tracks are typical Mohali pitches and a result is possible if the greentop is selected tomorrow for the Test starting day after tomorrow.

''A result can be forced if the greentop is made the final selection. But if they go for the bald strip, chances are quite slim,'' he said.

He, however, asserted ''hardness of both the wickets are same.'' Overnight rain and weather have changed the conditions. If the sky remains overcast tomorrow, the conditions would certainly help the fast bowlers.

''The post-lunch session will help the batsmen but the last 10 to 15 overs of the day would be crucial,'' he said.

Advising local lad VRV Singh not to lose heart after missing the bus, he said, ''He was out of practice and was not match fit.

He is talented and he should wait for the appropriate opportunity.

He should not feed demoralised.'' He also supported Munaf Patel's inclusion for the second Test.

''It was right time for Munaf to be included on the basis of his recent performance and form,'' he added.
