Govt to employ rtd engineers in Irrigation Dept

Hyderabad, Mar 7 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah today said the state government was contemplating to recruit retired engineers for the Minor Irrigation wing.

Replying to a question by Members A Govinda Naik, T Harish Rao and others during the Question Hour today, the Minister said the total sanctioned strength of engineering staff in the Irrigation Department was 7791 of which minor and medium irrigation wings employed 940.

He said 238 posts were vacant. The government had recruited 545 Assistant Executive Engineers for the entire Irrigation Department and was contemplating to hire 200 retired engineers for Minor Irrigation wing.
